The perfect way to introduce the principles of casting in metal. Make impressive automotive parts, cogs and jewellery. Simply cut your design out from thin sheets of MDF and trap your MDF template between the two parts of the mould case. Melt the lead-free pewter in the ladle with a gas burner (not supplied), pour the molten metal into the mould, then leave to cool. If you don't have a burner try using the Fusible Metal Alloy (below) which melts with hot water. The kit comprises of a mould case (which will trap either 2mm or 4mm thick MDF sheets and will produce pieces of up to 90 x 40 x 2mm or 90 x 40 x 4mm), a ladle, a sample of pewter, a 2mm MDF sheet and step-by-step notes of an actual Year 9 project. Please note: all items can be bought separately.
